Nurse Aide
The Nurse Aide provides direct patient care and performs various caregiving tasks always under the direct supervision of a nurse. This is a school-year length course with hours spent in classroom lecture, skills performance lab, and clinicals at a long-term care facility. Grades and attendance are an important part of this program and there are requirements for entering this very rewarding career path.
Recommended Skills to Possess:
Will be in direct contact with acutely and chronically ill residents thus student must be respectful and courteous at all times.
MUST be able to maintain confidentiality and honesty.
Substantial verbal and written communication skills.
Basic Medical Math: to include addition, multiplication, ratios, fractions, height/ weight, temperature measurements, food intake/ beverage intake percentages/ ratios.
Be able to work under pressure and under stressful situations in a medical emergency environment.
Physically able to stand/ walk for long periods of time, lift up to 100 pounds and have good dexterity.
