Criminal Justice

During the first course, students will cover the basic concepts of criminal evidence applied to the criminal justice workplace. Included will be a description of the trial process, types of evidence, the rules relating to relevance, documentary evidence, privileges, presumptions, judicial notice, photographs, and character. The course also focuses on the psychological and sociological aspects of criminal and other deviant behavior patterns. This class is part of the Dual Enrollment program involved with Lord Fairfax Community College.

Students who wish to continue into the second course of Criminal Justice will survey the fundamentals of criminal investigation procedures. Students will also cover crime scene search, collecting, handling, and preserving evidence. Students will be introduced to specialized tools and scientific aids used in criminal investigation.
